Is this PDF summarizer free?
Yes, completely free with no signup. It runs on open-source AI models via OpenRouter. To keep it free for everyone, each user gets 10 summaries per hour.
Is my PDF uploaded to your servers?
No - and this matters for private documents. The text is extracted from the PDF inside your browser using PDF.js. Only the extracted text is sent to the AI model for summarizing; the file itself never leaves your device.
How long can the PDF be?
Up to 80 pages of extractable text (about 10,000 words are used for the summary). For very long documents, the summarizer uses the first ~10,000 words and tells you it was truncated.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Not yet. Scanned PDFs are images without selectable text, which needs OCR. If the tool reports no text found, your PDF is probably a scan.
What summary styles are available?
Three modes: TL;DR (3-5 sentences), Bullet points (6-12 key points), and Detailed (a structured summary with headings and key takeaways). You can copy the result or download it as a .txt file.
